Ingredients
  

Burger Patties
  • 1 cup cooked black beans mashed
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 cup carrot grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg large beaten
  • 1 cup bread crumbs for binding
Toppings
  • 4 slices cheese optional
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 1 cup lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • 1/2 medium avocado sliced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup optional
  • 1/4 cup mustard optional

Method
 

Prepare the Patties
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed black beans, cooked quinoa, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, beaten egg, and bread crumbs. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
Cook the Patties
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  2. Alternatively, grill the patties on a preheated grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in the skillet.
  2. Place a patty on each bun and top with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and any additional toppings like cheese, ketchup, or mustard.
