Baking Process
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt and brown the butter over medium heat, then let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, fine sea salt, and ground cinnamon (if using).
- In another bowl, mix the browned butter with light brown sugar and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the semisweet chocolate.
- Scoop cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top (if desired).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
