  • 2 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large Egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon Milk or water for brushing

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix whole milk, melted unsalted butter, and egg yolk.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Place the loaf in a greased pan and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Brush the top with milk or water for a glossy finish.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
