  • 1 cup milk whole milk preferred

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries ripe and sweet, sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for strawberries
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract pure preferred

Method
 

Baking the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the skillet by greasing it.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the preheated skillet and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Preparing the Toppings
  1. While the cake is cooling, slice the strawberries and toss with the additional granulated sugar.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Serving
  1. Serve slices of the cake topped with the sweetened strawberries and whipped cream.
