Ingredients
  

Apples
  • 6 medium apples peeled, cored, and chopped
Water
  • 1 cup water for cooking
Sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar adjust to taste
Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional
Lemon Juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed

Method
 

Prepare the Apples
  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
Cook the Apples
  1. In a saucepan, combine the chopped apples and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the apples are soft.
Mash and Flavor
  1. Remove from heat and mash the apples with a masher until desired consistency is reached.
  2. Stir in sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Adjust sweetness to taste.
Serve
  1. Let the apple sauce cool before serving. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
