Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup applesauce unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Prepare the Oven and Pan
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
Mix Dry Ingredients
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients
  1. In another bowl, mix the applesauce, sugar, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Combine Mixtures
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Bake the Cake
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve
  1. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
